Underwater Inspections

Historically, inspection of storage tanks was a costly and time consuming process. Oftentimes, inspection was postponed or implemented only after severe problems developed. Before a conventional inspection can occur, consider the following procedures and potential results:

Disadvantages of Conventional Inspections

Advantages of Underwater Inspections

The major advantage of the inspector / diver is that they are buoyant, so they can cover every square inch of coating including hard or previously inaccessible areas. Our divers are approved technicians trained for coatings and linings inspection. Our inspectors use the latest in underwater video and photography equipment to obtain clear sharp images.

The Report

Because we remain completely independent of coatings manufacturers and contractors, you can be assured of the integrity of the report. Your final report will include a detailed written analysis of our findings along with a narrated underwater video tape of the inspection for your files. The report will also include specific recommendations to repair or maintain structure. Underwater inspection is the most highly efficient, cost-effective method of inspection that can eliminate major repairs to tanks or other submerged structures. The early signs of coating failure usually occur at welds, mechanically damaged areas, and where pinholes and holidays are present. Early detection and repair of defects will assure maximum life of the protective coating system.
